Our members are the roots of our organisation. Our members are our community voice in promoting and improving the well being of people affected by mental illness.
Becoming an ARAFEMI member provides you with the opportunity to keep informed and raise your voice about issues for consumers and carers across Victoria. As a peak Victorian support service for carers in Victoria, your membership and involvement are vital to in our advocacy within state and federal arenas.

Donations and bequests
Your support is vital in helping us to continue promoting and improving the wellbeing of people affected by mental illness. It is estimated that 1 in 5 people will experience mental illness through their lives and ARAFEMI has an ever expanding role in supporting people through housing and crisis support and supporting families through our helpline, support groups, education and respite. Please help us to meet this ongoing challenge.
Donations are tax deductible.
Where will the money go?
Donations are used to increase our services and provide:
- Vital support via our carer helpline
- Help to families and carers to access face to face support
- Access to low cost education for families and carers
- Support to our advocacy campaign through training and support to volunteers
- Funding for recovery programs for people with a mental illness
- Help to people with a mental illness to access a range of educational and recreation activities
Bequests or donations can be for a specific named purpose, such as provision of housing for people with a psychiatric disability, or the purpose can be left open for the Board to decide.
If desired it could be stipulated that a bequest be retained as a capital sum to be invested in perpetuity with only the investment income being spent each year.
Members may choose to request memorial donations in lieu of floral tributes following the death of a family member.
