Volunteering
As a grassroots mental health service, ARAFEMI has a long history of volunteer involvement. Our volunteers are our most valuable asset in making a difference for Victorian families and carers.
Operating a diverse range of Family Support and mental health services we offer a variety of volunteer opportunities. We have volunteer roles available both during the day and after hours. We are looking for volunteers across a number of programs, each requiring different sets of skills.
Our current Volunteer roles include:
- Telephone Support Worker – Carer Helpline
- Support Group Co-convenor
- Carer Online Moderator
- Carer Speaker
- Media Monitor
- Carer Mentor
- Carer Advocate
Volunteer Selection Process
- Applicants need to complete and submit a Volunteer Application Form. An interview may then be offered, which will occur on a weekday during office hours and be approximately half an hour in length.
- The selection process for telephone support workers and support group co-convenors includes a training program and observation shifts. Other volunteer roles will involve on-the-job training.
- All staff and volunteer appointments with ARAFEMI are subject to a three-month probation period and a satisfactory national police check, which will occur at no cost to the volunteer.
- ARAFEMI accepts volunteer services with the understanding that such service is at the sole discretion of ARAFEMI Victoria.
